HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK:
- Singing our “Peace Is” song for the Remembrance Day assembly
- Meeting Mrs. Gartrell (Ms. Gartrell’s mom came to help in the class!)
- Learning two new phonics games called “BUZZ” and "Alphabet Soup"
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
We will focus on the letters Cc and Kk this week. The students are really looking forward to making their our own puppets and using Ms. Gartrell’s special puppet theatre (her mom made it for her 4th birthday!) to re-tell the story, “The Little Red Hen”. In Math, Mrs. Atkinson will visit our class again on Monday to teach the Kindies more about patterns. The boys and girls love creating and extending simple patterns (AABAAB, AABBAABB, ABCABC).
We will continue to talk more about Social Responsibility and Bucket Filling. Last week, we created a “wrinkled heart” as a class to emphasize that our words and actions have a lasting affect and can hurt someone’s feelings even after we apologize. Here is the poem to help us remember, “Before you speak think and be smart, it’s hard to fix a wrinkled heart”. On Thursday, we have a guest, Mrs. Paetkau, coming into our classroom to speak about self-regulation. This ties in wonderfully with our Social Responsibility unit (being responsible for our actions and caring about others).
