At this point, I am leaving the Parent Open House night planning up to Mr. Weddell, as I will not be able to attend in the evening due to Job Action for teachers, as this is an event that is happening outside of the teaching day (8:00 am-3:00 pm). Parents can come to our classroom from 6:30pm-7:30pmo Tuesday 15th or Thursday 17th I have had the opportunity to have a parent/teacher interview with most families, either in person, over the phone or through email; however, if you have not meet with me and would like to discuss your child's progress in the subjects I teach (Science, Social Studies, Fine Arts, Health and Career, one block of PE and Computers) please don't hesitate to contact me.
This week we will continue to work on wrapping up our Science Weather unit, we are a few lessons behind where I had hoped, so I believe we'll be having our unit test at the end of next week or early the following week. We will be reviewing the key concepts as a class; however, I would encourage students to take the review handouts home to study on their own as well.
The students have seemed interested in our TenMarks math online program. Only a few students have told me they have shown their parents though. Please ask your child to show you the website and see how he/she is doing .
We will also be starting a Fine Arts project with our Little Buddies for our Winter Sharing. We will be preparing something special to show families later in December. I will post more information about specific times or if there are things we may need parent help with.
Be sure to check out the Remembrance Day art work displayed in the hallway. The Grade 4 students used paint to create warm and cool colour backgrounds and cut black construction paper to make impacting silhouettes.
If you have extra empty, clean ice cream pails and lids or yogurt containers and lids that you could donate to our class, it would be greatly appreciated as we frequently use them for Art and Science.
Let's have a great week! Please feel free to call me at the school or send me an email ([email protected]).
