Welcome to our class blog. This will be used as a primary source of communication between home and school. Please get into the habit of checking the blog at the start of each week. I will do my best to have my weekly update posted before each Monday morning. :)
The Back and Forth (boomerang) Folders are the other critical communication link between teacher and family. Check your child's folder each night and send it back to school the next morning. Remember to check the LEAVE AT HOME pocket daily for important notices and forms. The folders do not hold many pieces of paper, so please take out those papers intended to stay at home. Please leave the monthly COMMUNICATION page in the BRING TO SCHOOL pocket. This sheet is used by families and the teacher to write notes back and forth. Anything that needs to be returned to the school (for example, PAC food orders, book orders and payments) can also be placed in the BRING TO SCHOOL pocket, as we check it daily. If you are sending money to school, please put it in an envelope or zip-lock bag.
WHAT'S HAPPENING THIS WEEK?
Adjusting to full days and learning routines, expectations and our classmates names has kept us very busy. We also participated in the school Terry Fox Run last Friday as well. We will continue learning about the class and school expectations. We are beginning to use our class“Traffic Light” display to help the children monitor their own behaviour and promote self-regulation. This class-wide positive behaviour reinforcement system encourages students to make “Green” choices. I will post more info. about our Traffic Light next week, but thought you may want a bit of a heads up if your child starts talking to you about having a "green day" :)

- FRIDAY, SEPT. 23- no school due to teacher's Professional Development Day
- P.E. - Monday with Mrs. Brkovic (due to Friday Pro-D) and Tuesday with a TTOC
- Library is Wednesday - this will be the Kindies' tour and orientation to library routines so books will not be signed out until the following week.
REMINDERS:
- Indoor Running shoes- velcro or slip on shoes preferably. Please refrain from sending shoes with laces, unless your child can tie them independently. Remember to write your child's name somewhere on the shoes
- Send extra pair of clothes (pants, shirt, underwear, socks) with your child or have a bag of clothing that he/she can leave on his/her school coat hook.
- School Fee Forms - will be sent home in the Back and Forth Folders sometime this week. Parkcrest purchases school supplies in bulk, this is a cost-effective and simple way to equip kids for the year (and all children have the same supplies which makes things much easier in Kindergarten).
UPCOMING EVENTS:
- COLOUR WEEKS- During September 26th—October 5th, we will focus on one colour of the rainbow per day. The students are encouraged to wear red clothing on “Red Day” and bring a small object of the day’s colour to school (object MUST FIT IN BACKPACK). We will categorize and sort these items and the children will bring them back home the same day. Please refrain from sending precious and special items to school. Check your Friday, Sept. 16th paper newsletter for the schedule of colour days.
