Today we explored the water cycle through movement and drama. Students acted as water droplets, the sun, the wind, dust particles, clouds, and precipitation. We first tried this activity as a whole class. Unfortunately, it was very difficult for some students to work in a large group, they observed the students who were capable of working with others instead of participating themselves. Afterward, we discussed that in all grades students learn through a variety of ways (e.g. reading textbooks, listening to a speaker, watching a movie, learning through movement/dance, drama, etc.). The important thing, is that students are willing to try something new and participate to the best of their ability.
We will be discussing the significance of Remembrance Day and completing our Remembrance Day art work. In Science, we will be learning about measuring temperature, precipitation, wind speed and wind direction. It is my hope that we can complete our Weather unit within the next week or two, to give students time to review key concepts before the culminating test.
Mr. Weddell and I would like to have a Parent/Student Open House night this month, so the students can showcase their work and gives you an opportunity to ask the teachers any questions you may have about your child's progress. The kids have written two options in their agenda (Tuesday, November 15 or Thursday, November 17). Please circle the most convenient day for your family, so we can set a date A.S.A.P. If you are unable to make the Open House night, you can stop by after school one day and have your child show you his/her work.
At this time, I have not written a November newsletter, as any important information for this month is included in the blog. I will update the blog weekly (my goal is to have a new post on the Monday of each week) so you can be kept "in the loop."
Here's what our week looks like:
Wednesday, November 9 - Library and Little Buddies
Thursday, November 10 - Remembrance Day assembly
Friday, November 11 - NO SCHOOL DUE TO REMEMBRANCE DAY
As always, you can reach me at [email protected]
