HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK:
- Beginning the “What Is It?” Sharing bag. When your child is the Busy Bee, he/she will bring this bag home (it's a big zippered reusable shopping bag with animals all over it). Please look inside and read the info. sheet to help your child prepare for this exciting activity (INFO SHEET MUST STAY IN THE BAG for the next person). Your child can bring ONE item (MUST FIT IN THE BAG) to school THE NEXT MORNING to share with the class. Please do not send any valuable or extra sentimental objects to school
- Apple taste-testing with apples from Ms. Gartrell’s family orchard. The Amborsia and Pink Ladies were the favourites!
- Practicing our “Peace Is” song for the Remembrance Day assembly and making poppies for our class’s cenotaph wreath
We will focus on the letter "Nn" this week. Mrs. Atkison will visit our class again on Monday to teach the Kindies more about patterns. The boys and girls have loved being “pattern detectives” who locate patterns all around us. Zero the Hero will be visiting us this week for our 40th day of Kindergarten!
The school Book Fair will be happening this week. Our class’s “Book Look” time(where students get to preview the books) is Monday at 1:20pm. Our class’s “Book Buying” times are Monday and Thursday from 1:35-2:05pm – during this time, only students with money will be going to the book fair. With Kindies, I find it’s easy (and more secure so money does not get lost) if parents purchase books WITH their child during our class book buying times or after-school (Monday until 3:15pm, Tuesday until 3:00pm, and Thursday until 3:15pm). If your are sending money to school for your child to purchase a book, please clearly label the money and put it in the front of the agenda.
This week we will continue to talk about the significance of Remembrance Day and the symbolism of the poppy. We will also tie-in the concept of peace and acceptance (more Bucket Filling stories). We will talk about how each of us is unique and also how we come together as a caring class community (Roots of Empathy connection). We talk about why we are "happy to be me" - what makes us special, dislikes/likes, how we look similar/or different physically, etc.) and hopefully have time to illustrate a class book to the song “What a Wonderful World”.
Mrs,. Linfitt will be away on leave as of November 12th. Mrs. Wood will be replacing her until her return in January. Ms. Sullivan will be replacing Mr. Wood at Dallas Elementary during his absence. Ms. Sullivan’s replacement has not yet been announced.
HOW PARENTS CAN HELP:
