Wow, it’s already November and WINTER is here! Hopefully everyone had a safe, fun Halloween and remembered the time change on Sunday. Thank you for your cooperation with refraining to send Halloween candy to school in your child’s lunch! I really appreciate this. Please remember to send your child dressed for the weather each school day and remember school expectations for snow boots:
I still feel like I’m fighting off this never-ending cough/cold, but hopefully this week will be better. Kindergarten is what I call, a "germ-factory", if your child is not feeling well please keep them home so the germs don't spread to everyone else. :)

WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
This week’s Jolly Phonics letter and sound is "Nn". We will continue practicing the correct formation of numbers, particularly numerals 6, 7, 8 this week. Zero the Hero will be visiting us this Friday for our 40th day of Kindergarten!
We will talk about the significance of Remembrance Day and the symbolism of the poppy. We will also tie-in the concept of peace and acceptance. We will talk about how each of us is unique and how we come together as a caring class community (Roots of Empathy connection). We talk about why we are "happy to be me" - what makes us special, dislikes/likes, how we look similar/or different physically, etc.) and hopefully have time to illustrate a class book about circles (like a wreath of poppies).
The school Scholastic Book Fair will be happening this week. Our class’s “Book Look Preview” time is Monday at 10:45pm. Our class’s “Book Buying” times are Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:25-11:55pm – during this time, only students with money will be going to the book fair. With Kindies, I find it’s easy (and more secure so money does not get lost) if parents purchase books WITH their child during our class book buying times or after school (book fair is open Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday until around 3:15pm). If your are sending money to school for your child to purchase a book, please clearly label the money and put it in the Back and Forth folder.
Beginning the week of Nov. 14th - another BUSY BEE “perk” will start...the “WHAT IS IT?” Sharing Bag (a version of Show and Tell)! When your child is the Busy Bee, he/she will bring home the What Is It? Sharing bag (it's a big zippered reusable shopping bag with animals all over it). Please look inside and read the laminated info. sheet to help your child prepare his/her answers for this exciting activity (INFO SHEET MUST STAY IN THE BAG for the next person). Your child can bring ONE item (MUST FIT IN THE BAG) to school the next morning to share with the class. Educational and/or items that help us get to know a child/family are wonderful (rather than bringing a toy every time). Please do not send any valuable or extra sentimental objects to school. The November Busy Bee calendar is posted on the class bulletin board in the hallway. If your child happens to be away on his/her Busy Bee day, he/she will have another turn the following month.
