It is class photo day this Wednesday. We also have our second gymnastics lesson at the KGTC this Thursday. We will load the bus around 9:30am. Please make sure your child is dressed ready for gymnastics in comfortable clothing (no jeans), hair tied up, and no jewellery (watches, long earrings) and have hair tied back.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK:
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
This week’s Jolly Phonics sounds/letters are blends - “th/th” (“big th” as in thumb and “little th” as in the) and “qu”. In Printing, we will continue our lower case letters with g (our first “diving letter”) and u. In Math, we will continue to work on addition equations. In Science, we have been busy being scientists and thinking of “wonders” and questions about our new learning theme….BUTTERFLIES. The kids were very excited to have a special mystery parcel arrive last week with Painted Lady butterfly larvae. We will be raising them in our classroom! Hopefully in the next few days our “class pets” will be large enough to move into our aquarium habitat. We will also learn more about the parts of a caterpillar’s body and a butterfly's life cycle. Finishing our Mother’s Day projects will keep us busy this week as well :).

REMINDERS/HOW PARENTS CAN HELP:
- If you were unable to attend the Celebration of Learning in April, please send a note with your availability in your child’s Back & Forth folder or speak to Ms. Gartrell.
- Students can take their penguin projects home (it’s helpful if parents can carry them home thought)
- School-wide “Most Magnificent Thing” Project will begin mid-May: it would be excellent if families could help by starting to collect clean recyclables and reusables like:
- Buttons, string, pipe cleaners, aluminum foil, toothpicks, wooden stir sticks, small white cups, small styrofoam plates, cupcake liners
- Sign and return report card envelopes once you have read the term 2 report card (yes, there are still envelopes that haven’t been returned)
- Bring/leave an extra set of clothes at school in case your child has an accident or gets wet on the playground
