I hope you all had a wonderful Mother’s Day (perhaps your children even did what you asked (ha ha). We have 4-day week due to Monday’s Pro-D Day.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK:
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
This week’s Jolly Phonics sounds/letters are vowel blends - ou (as in “ouch”) and oi (as in “oil”). In Printing, we will quite a bit to catch up on while Ms. Gartrell was away - so hopefully we can finish lower case letters u, i, e, and l. In Math, we will continue to work on addition equations (students have been introduced to horizontal and vertical addition problems). In Science, we are continuing to learn about caterpillar’s body parts and functions, as well as a butterfly’s life cycle. The kids made a graph predicting how long it will take for the larvae to become chrysalises. We will talk about butterfly body parts and the difference between butterflies and moths.
NEXT WEEK:
School-wide Scholastic Book Fair: May 23-26 - it will work similar to the fall book fair (our specific preview and purchasing dates and times will be up next week)
School-wide “Most Magnificent Thing” Project-Based Learning will begin May 23-June 2:
Students will work on developing their critical thinking skills to create and “most magnificent thing” out of empty boxes. We have already collected plenty of boxes. However, it would be excellent if families could help by bringing clean recyclables and reusable things like:
