I trust everyone had a wonderful Spring Break! For me personally, it went by too quickly :( These next two weeks will also fly by, as both are only 4-day school weeks, due to there being no school on Good Friday AND Easter Monday. I believe the winter boot racks were removed from the hallways over the break. Therefore, the Kindergartens will now bring their shoes/rain boots into the classroom and put them in their bottom shelf.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2 WEEKS AGO:
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK
This week’s Jolly Phonics sounds/letters are “ee and or” (as in green and door). The kids are becoming very good “Vowel Team Detectives” now. In Printing, we will practice printing lowercase v and w (as they are formed the same regardless of upper or lowercase-size)! In Math, we will represent simple addition equations (aka: “math stories”) in our Math Journals by using pictures and numbers. Throughout this week, we will have some Easter-themed math centers, literacy activities, as well as an art project. In Science, we will discuss what plants need to grow and learn how to distinguish whether things are living or nonliving.
Katie the Koala went with Ms. Andrews over Spring Break. So this week, we will hear about what they did together over the holiday. :) A new Star Student will be announced this Thursday (as Friday is a holiday).
THIS WEEK’S SCHEDULE:
Monday – P.E. with Mrs. Brkovic (rescheduled due to Friday being a holiday)
Tuesday –Roots of Empathy with Wayne & Baby Maisie
Wednesday – Library with Mrs. Bond

Thursday – P.E. with Mrs. Brkovic
- Return completed March Homework calendars today or early next week (prize draw will Thursday, April 5)

HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2 WEEKS AGO:
- Monster Theatre Show about William Shakespeare’s, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, was very funny and entertaining
- Reading “Pete the Cat” stories and playing Pete the Cat-themed literacy and math games
- Beginning a new section of our Handwriting Without Tears books: LOWERCASE
- Creating St. Patrick’s Day 3-D art and a 100-Chart Mystery picture with our Big Buddies
- St. Patty’s Science Experiment: Rainbow in a Jar (here’s a pinterest photo and link to the directions: http://kindergartenlifestyle.blogspot.ca/2014/03/liquid-rainbow.html). TIP: I used an eye dropper to add the red rubbing alcohol along the sides of the jar and that seemed to work very well. I also only had olive oil rather than vegetable oil and it worked just fine :D
- Completing the Be Safe Program, having a visit from Constable Winkels and receiving a certificate from Trusty the Puppet.
- Learning about the Star Student’s favourite books and toys and seeing she had a stuffed koala similar to our class koala, Katie!
