Welcome Back! I hope your Spring Break was full of fun and relaxation. I was able to get some Spring cleaning and reading done myself :)
What's happening this week?
In Health and Career, we will have a guest speaker in on Thursday morning at 9:00 am to talk to the grade 4 students about Brain Injury Prevention. Students are asked to bring their bike helmets as the presentation will cover how to properly fit helmets.
In P.E. students will continue to develop their gymnastics skills through balance (solo and partner) this week.
In Science we will be starting the second of three chapters in our Habitats and Communities unit, about how living things get food from their habitats. I was very pleased with the average mark from our recent quiz (was written before Spring Break) which was 83%, a high B! Please sign and return your child's quiz so I know you're up to date and "in the loop" with your child's progress.
I was able to introduce our next Social Studies unit before the break, "Living in the World." It is a brief introductory unit to future topics about First Nations History and European Explorers.
Our "paint and resist" artwork from McQueen Lake is now displayed in the hallway. I am in the process of uploading pictures of some of our Art bulletin boards so families who may not able to come into the school can see what the children have been up to. :)

REMINDERS:
- Science Quiz - Please take a look at your child's quiz (was sent home Friday, March 15 before break), sign it and return it to school. Please let me know if your child's quiz does not make it home to you.
- P.E. strip - proper P.E. strip (sweatpants, athletic shorts, t-shirt, running shoes, NO JEANS) needs to be kept in students lockers. Students receive daily marks for each Monday P.E. class; each of the following things are taken into consideration: having proper P.E. strip, sportsmanship, overall participation, and ability to demonstrate skills taught. Students will not be participating in P.E. if they do not have proper P.E. strip. Those students who are not excused (please send a note, signed by parent, excusing child for health reasons, etc.) from participating in P.E. are expected to complete an observation sheet so they remain engaged while sitting out.
UPCOMING EVENTS:
- Friday, March 30th - Parent/Teacher interviews, 12:30 dismissal for students. Interviews will be run as they did in October and December, on a first come first serve basis. I will be available for meetings (in my classroom) from 1:15-2:30pm. If you are not able to meet with myself of Mr. Weddell at these times, please be aware that I can meet with you right after school (2:30 pm) during the week. I am also available to conference with you by phone as well. Just write a note in your child's agenda or send me an email and we can sort something out.
