HAPPY NEW YEAR! Welcome back. I hope you had a wonderful, restful holiday season filled with family and fun. We started off our 2012 school year with a new desk arrangement, new Clean-Up Job partners, and new Little Buddy partners. The students goal for February is to have their desks arranged in partners. In order for this to happen, the kids know they must show Mr. Weddell and I that they can work independently and efficiently in single rows as well as during partner and group activities.
In Science, we are concluding our Weather Unit with a research project on Natural Disasters. Students will research and complete the informational project individually. The students and I will discuss the assignment criteria and specific details this Thursday. We will start researching in the computer lab on Thursday and will continue to work on the projects new week. I am encouraging the students to cut out photos from magazines, newspapers, or the Internet that relate to their topic or illustrate themselves. The students may choose how they would like to present their research (e.g. written project with a title page, table of contents, etc. a poster, etc.). Once our Natural Disaster projects are complete, we will start a new unit in Social Studies.
Upcoming Events:
Thursday, January 12th -Young Peoples Concert
Thursday, February 9th - Skating with Gr.1 Little Buddies
Thursday, February 16th - Young Peoples Concert and Skating with Gr.1 Little Buddies
Friday, February 24 - Professional Development Day - No school
Future Field Trips:
As always, don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns ([email protected]).

Future Field Trips:
- SKATING - Parents are welcome to come skating at Brock Area with our class and our Little Buddies (Mr. Dhaliwal's class) on February 9th and 16th from 12:50-2:20pm. Parents are needed to walk with the students to and from the area as well as help with tying skates and packing equipment. There is no fee for this field trip, but students will need skates and helmets. Helmets are mandatory for ALL STUDENTS (parents may use a helmet if they wish to). Warm clothing and gloves/mittens are also encouraged. One permission form (covering both skating dates) will be sent home at the end of January.
- GYMNASTICS - The Grade 4s will be going to the Tournament Capital Centre for two Gymnastics lessons in late February-early March. There will be a cost for this trip, (should be somewhere around $10), but more specific information about these activities will be sent home closer to the date.
