Firstly, remember it is a 3-day school week due to Thursday 22nd and Friday 23rd being Professional-Development Days.
Secondly, we are desperately needing 2-3 more adult volunteers to be able to run all the 100th Day math activities I was hoping to (or I will have to throw Plan A out the window :(). The Math centres will happen between 10:35-11:55 am on Wednesday, 21st. If you are able, please sign up by Tuesday on the Parent-Volunteer sheet (outside our classroom door) or send me a note in your child's agenda. Thanks for your help! :)
Lastly, we have some very cold weather coming our way this week. Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each day. It is also very helpful if you label your child’s winter gear. Most days, recess and lunchtime are “outside” activities. However, if the weather is too cold for outside play, Mrs. Gorman will make an announcement and there will be “inside” options to choose from.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK:
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
This week’s Jolly Phonics sound/letters is “ai” (as in snail), which is our first digraph (aka: “blend” - when two or more letters that make one sound). In Printing, we will hopefully have time to play the “Mystery Magic C Capitals game” and continue with “Center Starting Capitals”: S and A. The students are also continuing to focus on printing their FIRST AND LAST names with proper letter formation when they come in each morning.
100th DAY OF KINDERGARTEN - Weds. Feb. 21: as mentioned above, we are still in need of 2-3 more parent/grandparent volunteers to be able to run the 100th Day math activities from 10:35-11:55am.
Please remember to send your child to school wearing his/her decorated 100-shirt on Wednesday, February 21. Due to cold weather, your child may want to wear the 100-shirt overtop of another shirt, or send an extra shirt and ziplock bag in case the 100-shirt starts to fall apart ;). We will also have a morning fashion show at school to model our 100-shirt collections! Please complete the “Fashion Show” page (orange sheet that was attached to the February newsletter), describing your child’s t-shirt and return the sheet to school on our 100th day (we will use these pages to create a class book.)
