HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK:
WHAT’S HAPPENING THIS WEEK:
I hope you all enjoyed your long Easter weekend. I had a fantastic time with my family in the Okanagan.
Please remember to complete all parts and SIGN the blue Big Little Science Centre permission form and return by April 20th. We are still in need of 1-2 more volunteer drivers (3-4 seats are needed). We will leave the school on Weds. April 26th around 10:10am, and leave BLSC around 12:00pm. Having parent drivers allows us to have this as a free field trip. :) If you have volunteered to drive, please remember to fill out a SD73 Volunteer driver form and show the office your driver’s license and insurance papers. Thanks so much for volunteering, otherwise this wouldn’t be a free trip! Also note, that all students who require a booster seat will need to bring it to school the morning of the field trip (Weds. April 26).
Thursday, April 20th - Celebration of Learning (aka: Student-lead “Brag” Night) from 5:00-6:00pm. The kids are very excited to be the “teacher” and show you all the amazing things they have been learning about penguins. The classroom will be open for families to stop by anytime between 5:00 and 6:00 pm. If you are unable to come on the 20th, please make arrangements with me for another date so all families can participate.
This week’s Jolly Phonics sounds/letters are “oo/oo” (e.g. moon, book) and “y” (for “yellow”, but also as “shy y” vowel as in fly). In Printing, we will begin lower case letters as we have finished all capital letters! :D We will start with lower case “Magic C” letters c, o, s as they are the same as the capitals, just smaller! In Science, we are finishing up the final details on our Penguin Projects so we can share on April 20th. We will also discuss ways that we can help take care of our planet as Saturday is Earth Day!
This week we will be making a class Family book. I would like to include a photocopy of each family photo in the book; however, we only have half of the Kindergarten families represented on our Family Wall. If you have not already done so, please send a family photo this week (it does not have to be recent, or it can be 2 separate photos if need).
UPCOMING FIELD TRIP: May 4th and 11th - Gymnastics at TCC - Permission forms with fees will be sent home this week. The fees cover 2 gymnastics classes and 4 bus rides. These fun outings are a part of our Kindergarten PE program.
